I wanted a small, sunny print for a cottage kitchen: buttercups and primroses on short stems with toothed leaves, tossed in pairs across a white ground.
About fifty little sprigs share each tile, buds and open flowers mixed, so the wall reads as a light, even sprinkle of yellow and green. Buttercup yellow, primrose yellow and spring green are laid in flat colour with crisp edges and a slightly naive, gouache-like brush. I see it in a cottage kitchen or a breakfast room where the morning sun comes in.
