I wanted the flowers you find at the edge of a wheat field in July: white chamomile with yellow hearts and ragged blue cornflowers, crowded onto an ivory ground.
The blooms sit close, each just brushing its neighbour's tiny paired leaves, with ivory showing through the small gaps, so the wall feels full but never heavy. White, egg-yolk yellow, cornflower blue and fresh green in a flat gouache look with crisp edges and a slightly naive brush. I see it in a cottage dollhouse kitchen above a stone sink, and it is lovely in a nursery too.
