I wanted a kitchen wall with the green of a vegetable garden after rain: white chamomile and blue cornflowers clustered on a soft sage ground.
The blooms sit close, yellow hearts and deep green paired leaves filling the spaces, with sage glimpsed between them, so the wall reads as one gentle, busy garden. White, yellow, cornflower blue and deep green in a flat gouache look with crisp edges and a slightly naive touch. I see it in a farmhouse dollhouse kitchen with copper pans on the wall, and it is just as at home in a nursery.
