I wanted the cool green of a lawn where you lie on your back in May: white clover heads, three-leaf clovers and tiny speedwell flowers over a pale mint ground.
Leaves and flowers share the wall equally, tossed low like a real lawn, so nothing stands up as a stripe or a cluster. White, a blush of pink and deep green in a flat gouache look with crisp edges and a slightly naive touch, fresh against the mint. I see it in a dollhouse nursery beside a white painted chest, and it brings a breath of garden to a kitchen or a garden room.
