For the white colourway I wanted the freshest version of the sprig: lavender and violet flowers with sage leaves on a clean white ground, light enough for the smallest room in the house.
The drawing is the same, about forty-five single sprigs to a repeat, each at one of three angles, laid in a half-drop so they fall in a calm, even scatter. The white ground makes the violet crisp, all in flat colour with clean outlines. I see it in a dollhouse bathroom, and it would suit a French country bedroom just as well.
