I wanted a marble with more character than plain white: a breccia, where rounded pale stones sit packed together, each one outlined by veins of violet and grey.
About twenty-five clasts of different sizes fill each repeat, and when the sheets are laid edge to edge the veins carry on with no visible join. White, violet, heather grey and plum, with the fine crystalline detail of polished stone, laid as one seamless slab rather than tiles. I picture it in a dollhouse bathroom, a Victorian parlour or a hall where guests come in.
