I wanted a floor with the warmth of a sunny southern house: creamy beige marble, softly clouded, with fine honey-brown veins drifting across it.
Three long veins cross each repeat on a slow diagonal and carry on from sheet to sheet, so the sheets are laid edge to edge with no visible join and no stray mark to give the repeat away. Cream, sand, honey brown and soft taupe, with fine crystalline detail: it has the look of polished stone, yet it prints flat on matte paper, with no shine, varnish or shadow. I picture it under a clawfoot tub in a dollhouse bathroom, and it is just as warm in a hall or a Mediterranean kitchen.
