I wanted a floor with real drama: deep charcoal marble struck through with crisp white veins, like lightning across a night sky.
Four main veins branch into finer white and pale grey lines and run on a slow diagonal from one sheet into the next, so the sheets are laid edge to edge with no visible join. Charcoal, graphite, white and pale grey, with fine crystalline detail; it reads as polished stone yet prints flat on matte paper, with no shine, varnish or shadow. I see it in a sleek dollhouse bathroom beside a white basin, and it gives a hall or a little cocktail bar the same evening mood.
