I wanted a floor with the weight of polished stone: dark emerald marble crossed by a fine net of gold and white veins.
The marble reads as one continuous slab, crossed by long veins on a slow diagonal, on a straight repeat; the sheets butt edge to edge and the pattern carries on with no visible join. Emerald, forest green, gold and white, with fine crystalline detail, seen flat with no reflection or shadow. I picture it in a dollhouse library under dark bookshelves, and it is just as striking in a bathroom or an Art Deco hall.
