Meadow Ditsy
Sky Blue

I wanted the meadow of a clear morning: tiny white forget-me-nots, buttercups and clover heads scattered over a pale sky-blue ground.

The sprigs fall in no order, each on a thin olive stem with a leaf or two, a few wheat-grass sprigs tucked among them, and there is enough blue between them to keep the wall airy. White, buttercup yellow and coral pink in a flat gouache look with crisp edges. I picture it in a dollhouse nursery around a little white cot, and it is just as fresh in a cottage kitchen or a bedroom.
