I wanted the fresh look of a French provincial cotton print on a dollhouse wall: blue periwinkle flowers with five rounded petals, set neatly on a clean white ground.
The flowers sit on a diagonal lattice, every second one a little smaller, with tiny paired leaves filling the diagonals, about thirty flowers to each repeat. I kept it flat like printed paper, with clean outlines and only French blue, navy centres and green, no gradients. I imagine it in a quiet dollhouse bedroom, and it would sit just as well in a French country kitchen.
