I wanted a warmer, grown-up version of the rosebud sprig: the same tiny buds, some half-open, with two pointed leaves and a curled stem, now in cream and deeper rose on a dusty-rose ground.
It shares the same repeat, with about forty sprigs in an orderly half-drop, tilted left and right in turn and widely spaced. Flat gouache-style colour, crisp edges, a slightly naive line and no shading; the sage leaves keep it fresh against the pink. I see it in a dollhouse bedroom with a white iron bed and a little lace, and it works in a nursery or a bathroom too.
