I wanted a climbing print that leads the eye up the wall: sweet peas and honeysuckle winding upward on curling tendrils, five trails side by side on a cream ground.
Each trail runs the full height of the repeat and wanders a little as it climbs, with small oval leaves along the way, so the stripes feel alive rather than ruled. The colours are sweet-pea pink, mauve, honeysuckle yellow and soft green, in a flat gouache look with crisp edges and a slightly naive touch. I see it running up a narrow dollhouse hallway, or in a cottage bedroom.
