I wanted a nursery wall that feels like a garden on a christening day: tiny bouquets of roses, forget-me-nots and daisies, each tied with a gold ribbon bow, tossed over soft sage.
The posies lie at all angles, ribbon ends fluttering, with enough sage between them to keep the wall calm. Cream, pink and blue flowers with their gold ribbon, in a flat gouache look with crisp edges and a slightly naive touch; on the green they look like pressed flowers in an old album. I picture it in a dollhouse nursery beside a wicker crib, and it is just as gentle in a bedroom or a dressing room.
