I was after the feeling of harvest time: tied sheaves of wheat alternating with single sunflowers, on a warm straw-coloured ground.
Sheaves and sunflowers take turns in staggered rows, facing alternate ways, each with open ground around it so the shapes stay bold and simple from across the room. Golden yellow, brown and green are laid in flat colour with crisp edges and a slightly naive, gouache-like brush. It belongs, I think, in a farmhouse kitchen for the autumn months, or in a dining room set for a harvest supper.
