I wanted a witch's shelf spilled across the wall: potion bottles of every shape, a mortar and pestle, bundles of dried herbs and little crescent moons, scattered over aged parchment.
The objects are tossed in staggered rows, turning alternate ways, with plenty of plain parchment between them, and every label is left blank. Plum, sage green, brass yellow and black are printed in flat colour with crisp edges, like an old block-printed paper. I picture it in a Halloween kitchen or a witch's study, behind a shelf of tiny jars.
