I wanted the blue-and-white tiles that line the lower half of a kitchen wall, so I chose a rounded medallion with leafy scrolls in cobalt and split it across four tiles.
Each tile carries one quarter of the medallion, and two by two they close it up again, set straight with thin, even grout lines. The white glaze is slightly uneven and the cobalt brushstrokes are confident, all seen perfectly flat, with no shine and no shadow. The sheets butt edge to edge so the tiling carries on with no visible join. I see it as a tiled dado in a kitchen, a bathroom or a patio room.
