Painted Kitchen
Blue and White

I wanted a kitchen splashback of Mexican-style glazed tiles: cobalt and pale blue on white, each tile carrying a round flower with pointed petals and small dots.

The tiles are painted with confident brushstrokes on a slightly uneven glaze and set straight, with thin, even grout lines. The sheet edges fall through the middle of the tiles, never along a grout line, so strips join into whole tiles. I picture it as a backsplash behind a dollhouse stove, or as a tiled lower wall in a small bathroom.
