I wanted Bramble Hedge to feel like a hedgerow at the end of summer: trailing brambles with white blossoms and ripe blackberries on a deep bottle-green ground.
The leaves are moss and sage, the blossoms ivory, the berries purple-black and crimson, all in flat color with clean outlines, like an Arts and Crafts woodblock print. The dark ground gives a room depth, and I picture it in a study, a living room or a dining room lit by lamps.
