For this colourway I pictured the hedgerow after dusk: trailing brambles with serrated three-part leaves, small white blossoms, ripe black and unripe red berries, all winding over an ink-navy ground.
The branches meander diagonally through the repeat, overlapping lightly, with curling tendrils and tiny thorns and about half the ground left showing. Sage leaves, ivory blossoms, black-purple and crimson berries, in flat colour with clean outlines like an Arts and Crafts woodblock print. Navy sits a little cooler than green, and I imagine it in a dollhouse dining room set for a long dinner, or in a living room.
