I wanted a small, orderly pattern that stays calm on a wall: tiny fleurs-de-lis, one in each diamond of a fine French-blue diaper, on a cream ground.
It is a straight repeat, and the diamonds stay small and even, the way a micro-scale pattern should look in a miniature room. One colour, French blue, with clean outlines and flat colour like a printed paper, and no gradients. I picture it in a dollhouse salon furnished in the French style, or running the length of a hallway.
