For a hallway I wanted something quieter, so the same fan scallops turn soft here: sage scales on cream, each with its palmette and fine engraved lines in olive.
The scales overlap in offset rows like roof tiles and cover the whole wall, a small palmette at the heart of each. In pale sage and olive the pattern reads almost like a texture from a step away and shows its linework only up close, in the manner of a Victorian printed paper in flat colour. I see it along a Victorian hallway and up the stairs.
