I wanted the calm of a striped cotton ticking with something sweeter tucked inside: fine blue stripes and, between every pair, a tiny vine of pink rosebuds with touches of sage, on a cream ground.
It is a straight repeat, and the stripes run the full height of the wall. The stripes have the even look of printed fabric, while the buds are softer, in flat gouache-style colour. I picture it in a dollhouse bedroom under a sloping ceiling, and it suits a nursery just as well.
