I wanted Gothic Gilt Trellis to feel like a garden glimpsed at midnight through a gilded screen: a thin gold ogee trellis laid over dark roses, lilies and ivy on a black ground.
It is a straight repeat, with the lattice running across the whole sheet and the flowers woven behind it. Deep red roses, cream lilies and dark green ivy sit under the gold, all in flat Victorian gothic colour; the gold is a flat ochre-gold, not a metallic ink. I imagine it in a dark Victorian dollhouse bedroom around a four-poster bed, and it would look just as good behind the shelves of a library.
