For Valentine's Day I wanted something small and tender: little red hearts alternating with tiny rosebud sprigs on a blush-pink ground.
Hearts and rosebuds take turns in staggered rows, turning alternate ways, with open pink ground around each one so the shapes stay bold even at dollhouse size. Red, rose and sage are laid in flat colour with crisp edges and a slightly naive, gouache-like brush. I picture it in a dollhouse bedroom, perhaps a girl's room, dressed for Valentine's Day.
