Hydrangea Garden
Blue on Cream

I wanted the end of a summer garden where the hydrangeas take over: round blue flower heads with big leaves, and small yellow wildflowers tucked between them on cream.

About ten hydrangea heads sit on each tile in a half-drop, with the little wildflowers scattered in the gaps. The blues run through several shades, next to leaf green and buttercup yellow, all in flat colour with crisp edges and a slightly naive gouache touch. I see it in a dollhouse bedroom with white linen, or in a living room that opens onto the garden.
