Lemon & Blueberry
Navy

I wanted lemons to glow the way they do in a dark bowl: whole fruit, slices and blueberry sprigs scattered over a deep navy ground.

Some twenty-five motifs are mixed on each tile in a half-drop, so the scatter never turns into stripes. The yellow, blue and green sit flat with crisp edges and a slightly naive brush, like gouache, and the navy makes the lemons the brightest thing on the wall. I see it in a dollhouse kitchen with white cupboards, or in a cosy breakfast nook.
