I wanted a wall that feels like evening in a smoking room: rows of brass-gold horseshoe arches on black, each one holding a small teal eight-point star.
The arches stack in rows and cover the whole wall, edged with dotted borders, so the black ground shows only between the gold lines. It is drawn in flat colour with a crisp geometric line, three colours in all: black, brass gold and teal. I picture it in a Victorian smoking room with leather chairs, or in a study lined with books.
