I wanted the mood of a 1940s hotel lobby after dark: banana leaves and fan palms crowding a deep jungle-green ground, with bird-of-paradise flowers and a few hibiscus glowing between them.
The big leaves overlap and cover most of the paper, set in a half-drop so no stiff rows show. Lighter greens, coral and cream in flat colour, each shade sitting a hair off its outline like an old print slightly out of register. On the dark ground it feels lush and a little glamorous; I picture it in a dollhouse bedroom with a rattan headboard, and it gives a living room or a sunroom the same holiday air.
