I wanted a Christmas wallpaper you would want to lay the festive table against: large poinsettias with pointed scarlet bracts and dark green leaves, a few small berry sprigs, on a warm cream ground.
About seven big blooms share each repeat, set in staggered half-drop rows and turned in alternating directions, each with a gold centre and plenty of plain cream around it. Flat gouache-style colour, crisp edges, a slightly naive line and no shading, so the flowers read clearly even at 1:24. I see it in a dollhouse dining room laid for Christmas dinner, and it is just as festive in a living room.
