I wanted autumn without the gloom: small pumpkins and gourds on curling vines, tumbled over a soft blush ground.
About twenty-five motifs share each tile, tossed in a half-drop so the patch looks freshly gathered rather than planted in rows. Orange, cream and sage are laid flat with crisp edges and a slightly naive brush, like gouache. I see it in a dollhouse kitchen in October, or in a cosy living room.
