I wanted the treasures you pick up at low tide: scallop shells, whelks and starfish scattered over a clean white ground.
About twenty-five shells share each tile, tossed in a half-drop so they lie as the tide left them. Navy, sand and coral are laid flat with crisp edges and a slightly naive brush, like gouache. I picture it in a dollhouse bathroom or a beach house bedroom.
