I wanted a floor that could take muddy boots: square riven slate flags in charcoal and blue-grey, with the faintest tints of rust.
The repeat is straight; the sheets butt edge to edge and the pattern carries on with no visible join. Dark joints, a honed stone look with subtle grain and faint riven layers, seen flat with no shine or shadow. I picture it in a dollhouse farmhouse kitchen by the range, and it suits a mudroom or a modern hall just as well.
