I wanted a winter night you could hang on a wall: little cottages with snow on their roofs and one lit window each, standing among small snowy pines on a midnight-blue ground.
About eight motifs sit on each tile, spaced in staggered half-drop rows and turned in alternate directions, with plenty of dark blue between them. White, warm yellow, red and green are the only colours, laid flat with crisp edges and a slightly naive gouache touch, so the windows glow against the night. I see it in a dollhouse living room through December and January, or in a bedroom where it keeps the snow going all winter.
