I wanted the tiled floor of a Victorian hall: small squares, triangles and rectangles fitted together into a star inside a square.
Each repeat holds one complete star-in-square block of about forty pieces, framed by a black and buff border that it shares with the next block. Terracotta red, black and buff with a little cobalt, in the matt look of unglazed clay, with crisp tile edges and thin even grout lines. I see it in a Victorian hall, on a front porch or in a kitchen.
